But before you jump headlong into this wasteland, it’s important to know what you’re getting into. With that in mind, we’ve compiled 13 tips from our seasoned gamers here at The Geek Girl Project for besting your first foray out into post-apocalyptic Boston!
-Tip #13: Play on Survival Mode! Fallout veterans recommend this, because it is the best way to get a feel for how tough in world really is. Once you’re done with your first playthrough and have some experience under your belt, try out New Vegas or Skyrim if you want something different.
**Note that numbers are not allowed as content when writing long form posts. It’s confusing for readers if they cannot tell what kind of information they might find next by seeing where the bullet point ends.- **
What follows will be an example of how these points should look without numbering.*This list can go on and we would like “Tips” starting at number 13 to come across so that our reader knows which one
– You have to drink water.
– Build a settlement around the Diamond City or Goodneighbor for more loot, amenities and safety from raiders.
– Do not forget your vault suit! They provide protection against radiation damage when exploring outside of vaults.
– Find out what happened to Vault 11 by reading its log in Sanctuary Hills near Concord as well as finding Shaun’s toy blocks on campus grounds at Boston University.
– Use old tires, metal drums and car parts to create crude oil which fuels power generators (the “fuel” tab). Now you can finally stop worrying about running out of fuel after being chased by mutants!
– Keep some space open in your inventory for crafting materials such as screws, duct tape and glue.
– Turn off your Pipboy light in dark areas to avoid detection from enemies or ghouls by turning it on when you need to find a foe’s location.
– If an enemy must be dealt with quickly, use VATS instead of shooting them point blank. This will save ammo for harder situations ahead!

Tip #14: Power Armor is Not Just for the Over-Endowed
Most Fallout games offer player’s a chance to power up their character with some good old fashioned armor. I know what you are thinking, what does that have to do with newbies? Well if you are playing on one of those lower difficulties then it may not be as important but on anything higher than normal difficulty getting into a suit of armor can mean life or death. As such most players either avoid them altogether like they would any projectile weapon or only use them in extreme situations when there is absolutely no other choice left available so take note and make sure that your next playthrough has at least one suit ready to go otherwise you will find yourself fighting from the outside in.
What’s Next?
The next steps are to edit the text, upload an image and create a title for your blog post. Here is how you would do that: – Edit the text on this page by clicking anywhere inside of it and start adding content. You can use keyboard shortcuts CTRL + A (select all) or SHIFT + INSERT (paste from MS Word) to copy/cut sections of text if needed. – Upload at least one image using the Media Manager which you will find under Settings -> Add New Image(s). We recommend uploading more than one as well so choose images with different dimensions and PNG format for best results but don’t worry about sizing them perfectly yet; we’ll take care of that later. – Title your blog post by clicking on the title field, typing a new title and then pressing ENTER or TAB to save it.
