6 Tricks to Keep Ants Away Without Toxic Chemicals

Do you want to get clear of ants throughout your house and property using natural methods? Ants, like many other common ‘pests,’ are drawn to regions where they are sure to find sources of food.

Since ants are communal insects, when one comes to your door, others will quickly follow. This can potentially cause an infestation on your property. While controlling ant infestation might be frustrating, there are a variety of efficient techniques to keep the annoying insects away and keep your ant control in Barrie on point.

1. Try Peppermint

Mint is a natural insect repellent that is easy to come by. Since ants despise its scent, planting mint around your household or spraying peppermint essential oils does not only drive away ants but also leaves your house smelling minty fresh.

Plant mint near your front door or around the boundary of your house to discourage them from entering. Spray or use a cotton ball with several droplets of peppermint oil to wipe suspected access points. Place mint oil cotton balls in areas where you store foods, such as cabinets.

2. Chalk

Chalk is one of the natural approaches for getting rid of ants. The calcium carbonate present in chalk helps keep ants away from your home. Sprinkle additional crushed chalk or apply chalk lines in the regions where ants enter. While it is unsure why applying a line of chalk prevents the bugs from entering the house, it is unquestionably helpful. Make sure the line is really out of reach of children in the house when you put it up.

3. Simple Boiling Water

Pour hot water into any ant holes you come across near your property. Most of the other ants within will be killed quickly when you successfully use this procedure. Anthills may appear insignificant, but the ant colonies beneath them are enormous.

The boiling water alone will not be enough to wipe off the colony. As a result, be sure to treat any ant holes you come across in the vicinity of your home.

4. Try Cayenne Pepper or Black Pepper

Cayenne pepper and black pepper are commonly used to annihilate ants. To successfully prevent ants from entering your home, look for potential access points and scatter some cayenne or black pepper around the location to block the ants out of your home.

Another effective alternative is mixing some pepper with water and pouring the mixture at the ants. While both cayenne and black pepper are not known to poison ants, this ant repellent solution will certainly help keep your backyard or home ant-free.

5. Vinegar

Ants despise the odour of vinegar, and it has been reported that it can eliminate the scented trails which they use to navigate. If you watch ants for a while, you’ll see that they all take the very same trail in and out of your home. Eliminating ant scent trails will offer a significant advantage in the game.

Using a 50-50 solution of white vinegar and water, wipe off your worktops, storage lockers in Toronto, and any other areas where you’ve seen ants. To keep the efficacy, repeat the practice throughout the day. In addition to deterring ants, vinegar can be used for a variety of tasks, including cleaning.

6. Citrus Fruits

Crush a lemon or lay lemon peels in the ant’s entry points. You may also use water and mix a little citrus juice to clean your floors. Because insects dislike the scent of citrus juices, they will stay away.

Anything sour or bitter may deter ants, but sugar is an ant’s best friend. So make sure you don’t have anything tasty on hand that could attract ants in some way. Have your kitchen countertop spotless and lay the peels directly on it.

Oranges are similar to lemons as they also deter ants from coming into your home. To get rid of ants, mix a cup of warm water with a few orange peels to make a paste. Apply the mixture to ant access points and brush it clean thereafter. Citrus juice, like vinegar, don’t kill ants on contact, but they are an effective deterrence

Orange peels can also be placed on the kitchen surface or wherever you believe the ants are entering from. It functions as a natural ant deterrent, not only keeping them at bay but also keeping them away.
