“I’m doomed,” you think as the last of your party members goes down. You’re not dead yet, but this is bad news for a variety of reasons. For one thing, it’s possible that you’ll die when the monster targets you again next round. For another, unless there are other characters in your group who can cast healing spells or use magical items to restore health points (HPs), then all hope is lost and there’s no way to get out of combat alive!
So what do you do? First off, take a moment to breathe deeply and calm yourself so that when the fight restarts your character will be able to act without panicking. Second – maybe it isn’t too late for those other party members yet! If you have a ranged attack, or if the monster is near to one of your party members who’s still alive, try using that ability for damage. If not – and there are no other party member targets available either – consider casting spells such as Healing Word (to heal yourself) or Aid (to help others).
And lastly, don’t forget about potions! It may be too late for them in this fight but they’ll come in handy when your next battle starts.”
If all injured characters die before another round of combat begins: its Game Over. You’ll have to restart the game from an earlier savepoint
If the monster uses an area-of-effect spell on its current target: use dodge abilities and/or healing magic to save those nearby from death.-if all non-injured characters die before another round of combat begins: either try to escape or use potions and spells that will give your party members a chance
Strategies for when your party is getting killed bard or solo:
Dodge abilities (dodging, moving, rolling down slopes) are invaluable when you’re by yourself. It’s easy to get overwhelmed if a group of enemies closes in on you.
Use potions and spells that will give your party members a chance before they die. (e.g., heal them with Heal Other). This will keep their health up so that they can do more damage in combat while other characters regenerate some HP as well. And just running away might not always be an option.
If the monster is chasing after you: use a ranged attack to keep distance, and when it’s safe enough, turn around to launch your own assault with spells or weapons.
When fighting enemies close up: if they get too close for comfort (or just do more damage than you can handle), retreat until their aggression towards you subsides then go back in again when they’re not looking to deal some quick damage before taking off once more.
For solo play, these are pretty much all of the options that I have learned about so far but there may be others out there! If anyone has any advice related to this topic please feel free to comment below! Thank You!! :)
