Blink-182 Cake for Nobody Likes You When You’re 23

The cake has been a part of human culture for centuries. It is one of the most versatile desserts, often served at celebrations or as an after-dinner treat. But in recent years, it seems like there’s been a rise in some bizarre and unusual cakes being made all around the world. We’ve seen everything from a blink-182 themed cake to even more strange concoctions such as this avocado toast dessert!

Blink-182 Cake for Nobody Likes You When You’re 23 One of the most bizarre and unusual cakes around is a blink-182 themed cake. Made by a user on Tumblr, this is actually not an easy cake to make as you need several different ingredients. The first thing you’ll need is two round vanilla sponge cakes which will be cut in half with one being slightly taller than the other (to represent Tom’s height). Next, each cake needs whipped cream frosting that has been tinted blue making it look like water going over rocks. Then use black sugar pearls to depict waves crashing against the shoreline before carving out some holes along the top edge of both cakes to resemble waterfalls. Lastly, add lots of crushed Oreo cookies on the top to make it look like a rocky beach.

The cake will take a few hours to make and the recipe for each of these ingredients is below. The blink-182 themed cake can be enjoyed by anyone who likes the rock band, but it’s also perfect as a birthday or engagement party dessert. Instructions: 

First, you’ll need two rounds of vanilla sponge cake. One will be cut in half and one will remain whole for Tom’s height. The taller cake should have an area that is slightly wider than the other so it can get hollowed out like a cave at its center with some waves around the top edge and then serve as a “waterfall” that goes over into a small hole dug out on the lower level cake while using black sugar pearls to represent water crashing against rocks before carving more holes along another section of this same upper layer or “snow” because there were too many holes! Use your imagination here 😉 The lower portion should also be covered in crushed Oreo cookies to resemble the sand and then frosted in blue buttercream with some sugar pearls on top of that.

For Mark, I made a cake using a chocolate sponge and Oreos for the rocks. It was iced in cream cheese icing which dripped off before being topped with more crushed Oreos as well as sprinkles (because he likes those)

The Tom section is first covered in brown sugar from Trader Joe’s – this gives it an “old” feeling like they’re leaving behind their punk roots or something? Anyway, cover what you just did so all you can see are these craggy rock faces sticking out before adding liquid sugars around them to get that water effect again but also use candy spoons dipped in blue and pink buttercream to look like the waves in the water.

For Travis, I used vanilla cake and brown sugar to make it rockier. It was covered in a white chocolate ganache then topped with buttercream for the ocean. To imitate waves, I added blue M&M’s on top of that by dipping them into melted dark chocolate first so they don’t melt too fast when sitting out or adding seaweed made from shredded coconut dyed green mixed together with some water like you would if making real seaweed salad.

The Mark section is next – this one has lots of repeat steps but we’re not going to get too complicated here – use crushed Oreos as rocks before putting frosting over them (use cream cheese icing for Tom and vanilla buttercream for Travis) then top with a red M&M to represent the band’s logo.

Finally, use more mini OREOS or RITZ crackers if you want as part of your background–the water is mostly just there so that they don’t all see each other from up close while performing onstage!
