How to Fix Chromecast Black Screen When Casting

The Chromecast is a great invention that allows you to stream content from your phone, tablet, or laptop to the TV. However, one of the most frustrating things about this device is when it has a black screen and won’t cast anything. There are many reasons why this may happen but in this article, we’ll give you some tips on how to fix Chromecast black screen when casting so you can get back to streaming!

Make sure your phone, tablet, or laptop and the Chromecast are on the same Wi-Fi network. If you’re using a mobile device that is not connected to Wi-Fi then make sure it’s in range of an available wireless connection with internet access.

Check for any dropped connections between your devices by disabling power-saving mode on both ends (laptop/desktop and mobile). Quit apps one at a time until you find which app was causing conflicts. Restarting the Chromecast itself from within settings will also solve this problem many times over!

If all else fails simply factory resetting your Chromecast may be enough to get things up and running again without having unwanted side effects!

The only way to troubleshoot the issue is to factory reset your Chromecast.

Factory Reset: Settings > Chromecast Setup > Factory Reset
How to Fix Chromecast Black Screen When Casting

Ever since Google released the first generation of their popular streaming device, they’ve been improving on it with each new release and model! From a simple plug-in power cord, HDMI port, and button remote control system for navigation; newer models have Wi-Fi connectivity that can allow you to cast from other devices around your home like laptop computers or tablets. The latest incarnation has voice commands through its built-in microphone so you don’t even need an additional third-party speaker! It’s amazing how far this little gadget has come – not to mention how inexpensive it is!

All of these features are great, but as with anything that can be used for a variety of purposes they’re not without their downsides. For example, the latest versions have been having some issues when casting from certain apps like YouTube and HBO GO – specifically an issue where you get stuck on the loading screen instead of being taken into your video or show. This is one problem that we’ll go over in detail below so if any part sounds familiar then keep reading!

What’s Causing Chromecast Black Screen When Casting?

So what exactly could cause this black screen during Chromecast streaming? There are two different types of cases that will require two separate fixes. The first case has more to do with the app you’re using, while the second has more to do with your connection.

The first issue is when YouTube videos won’t play on Chromecast because they’re not supported – the easiest fix for this would be to just switch over and use a different casting device like Roku or Apple TV which will have both zero issues playing back video content from their respective apps. The other case that we’ll mention here is an internet problem; either there’s too much traffic being sent at one time, or it could potentially be due to some kind of network error. In order to solve this type of black screen Chromecast issue all you need to do is change your wireless security settings so that it isn’t as strong and start streaming again! If none of the things mentioned so far have been the issue, then it might be a problem with your device at this point.

You’ll need to check for software updates and make sure that something hasn’t gone wrong inside of its settings which is causing problems when playing back video content. You can usually fix these errors by updating or resetting various aspects of the device since they’re typically software-related – alternatively, you could also try unplugging and re-plugging in all of your Chromecast devices as well to see if that fixes anything! The last thing we’ll mention here would be checking your HDMI cable; there’s nothing worse than thinking everything is working fine only to realize that you forgot about such an easy problem. If your HDMI cable is a few years old then chances are it’s either lost the ability to transmit audio and video or is just plain faulty.
