Marnie is a little girl who lives in the woods with her family. One day when she’s playing by herself, Marnie sees a tree that has lots of berries on it. She reaches out to grab one and then realizes there is someone else there! They introduce themselves as Mr. Bear, and tell Marnie about their family too- they have two children named Jenny and Jack. The book follows the adventures of Marnie and her new friends through all four seasons, each time ending with them sitting around a campfire sharing stories until they fall asleep together.
When Marnie wakes up from sleep she can’t wait for another adventure because “it was so much fun last night!” You see I think this is a really great book to read when you want to have fun.
This blog post was written by the author of “Marnie’s Really Great Adventure”. In this article, they talk about their impressions and thoughts on her story. They also include some information about how it could be used in classrooms and other educational settings as well as provide links for ordering copies of the books. The author concludes with what they think are valuable lessons learned from reading the story — namely that everyone needs friends and family who love them unconditionally no matter what!
In conclusion, I recommend having your own adventures like Marnie by joining my online community or even starting one where we can share our own stories. Just remember to bring a friend with you when you go on a new adventure.
The author of “Marnie’s Really Great Adventure”
The story is about a little girl named Marnie who lives with her two pets, Mo and Joe (a dog and cat). She grows up feeling lonely because she always visits the neighbors but they don’t seem to want to play with her. When one day he meets an old lady that has no family left in town, Marnie knows right away that this is someone she wants as a friend! They have so many adventures together – from walking around their neighborhood and making cookies at Bakery Garden, to going on hikes through the woods. It also ends well for them when both are adopted by loving families at the end of summer when Marnie is ready to go back home with her parents.
The author, Andrea Davidek, wanted children to know that they do not have a monopoly on loneliness and then went on to invent this story as one way for them to explore their feelings around it.
Reviewer: Terry Ward from School Library Journal “In simple sentences, the little girl who has grown up feeling lonely because she always visits the neighbors but they don’t seem interested in playing with her meets an old lady who lives alone without family left in town.”
Reviewer: Ken Baker from Horn Book “Davidek’s story is a generous gift for anyone who has ever felt lonely or abandoned by those they love, because it shows that even when we have no one else in the world, there is always someone out there waiting for us.”
Reviewer: Susan Heim from School Library Journal “A poignant story about a little girl who has grown up feeling lonely because she always visits the neighbors but they don’t seem interested in playing with her.”
“Davidek invents this story as a way for readers (especially young ones) struggling with these feelings themselves or those close friends and loved ones to find comfort. The simple sentence structure makes it easy for children just learning to read on their own, while older children will enjoy Davidek’s gentle humor when Marnie takes revenge by hiding Mrs. Brown’s shoes.”
