The example of the day’s homicides on Staten Island are a reminder that you have to be vigilant. In the past, the NYPD has made their presence felt in the area by conducting sweeps and patrols. This is no longer an option.
The last time the NYPD conducted a sweep in the area was in the mid-’90s, but I think even that was far too little too late. That’s when the NYPD realized that the murder rate was getting out of control and that people felt safe in their neighborhoods. So they started to increase patrols and conduct sweeps.
How about the current trend? Police officer John Jarmol, who is now responsible for the NYPD’s patrol of Staten Island, has recently begun running his own police departments in Brooklyn and Brooklyn. NYPD statistics are pretty impressive, but the NYPD is also a force with a relatively high amount of guns. There have been over 100 shootings since 2002, with the majority of them being domestic violence incidents.
There are several reasons why you might be stopped for being speeding, but speed cameras are one of them. You may have sped up to 40 miles an hour on the way to work, and to avoid ticket you might have tried to pass it off as a parking violation.
