The Levee Broke: How to Keep Your Family Safe

What do you do when the levee breaks? The city of New Orleans was devastated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. This storm brought with it a massive amount of water which flooded homes and businesses, as well as schools and churches. Residents didn’t know how to protect themselves from this natural disaster. Here are five ways to make sure your family is safe when the levee breaks!

-place a flashlight and battery-operated radio near your bedside. You’ll want to be able to see anything coming into your room at night in case you have trouble breathing or need help getting out of the house. If there is a power outage due to a storm, this will probably be all that’s left functioning!

-have an evacuation plan for every member of your family prepared ahead of time so when disaster strikes, you know exactly where everyone is going and how they’re going to get there (including pets!). This way there won’t be any confusion during the emergency.

Donate blood if it helps relieve worries about loved ones who may need transfusions after being rescued from flooded buildings–you might just save someone else’s life with the donation.

Stock up on supplies after the hurricane and get ready for anything that may happen in your area–even if it’s sunny outside, you never know when a storm is brewing!

keep an evacuation kit packed with all of the essentials (food, water, important documents) so when disaster strikes, you’re prepared to evacuate at any time.

Just as when you cross a busy street with cars driving by, there are some steps that will help keep your family safe in case of disaster. It is important to know what to do before and during hurricanes or floods so that you’re prepared for anything. What should I pack? Where should my emergency kit be stored? Do we need sandbags around our home as they had on TV?” These questions–and more are answered here today! One of the most important things to think about is ensuring everyone has access to electricity if possible and keeping generators ready to power up when the time comes.

It is also important to have a plan in place for what will happen if your family gets separated. You should designate an emergency meeting point and come up with two phone numbers–the main number that everyone knows, as well as another one just in case so you can always reach each other in case of emergencies. Make sure to update these numbers whenever possible so they’re current! The last thing you want is lost contact because no one has updated their information on Facebook or Twitter (or whatever social media platform). It’s even more crucial than ever before that every member of your family follows instructions carefully during severe weather events like floods or hurricanes. If any part of this article seems confusing, be sure to ask questions–we want to make sure you and your family are safe.

Below is a list of other things that may help keep you and your loved ones safe in case of an emergency: – Stay tuned for updates on TV or radio when there’s severe weather-don’t believe everything they say though! Remember that power outages might mean no air time as well. Find another source where you can find information about what’s going on in your area if possible (maybe even do some research beforehand!). Stock up on batteries and canned goods to make sure that you’re ready for anything.

Another thing to store in your emergency kit is a flashlight–remember, power outages might mean no lights when the levee breaks so be prepared! It’s also important to have nonperishable food items like water, peanut butter, crackers, or cereal with you too because things will likely be chaotic when disaster strikes.
