A bit of history on Daylight Saving Time

A Few More Bullet Points: – The idea of daylight savings was founded by Benjamin Franklin in 1784 when he observed that Parisians waste daylight through their windows because they have no way to tell time during a cloudy night. This is why we started using clocks with hands and are able to keep track of what hour it is at all times, even if it’s dark outside. It allows us humans not only to be safe while going around town but also to get an extra hour or two of sleep in the morning.

The United States adopted Daylight Saving Time about a hundred years ago when we observed that Germany’s success with it had helped them become one of the most powerful countries during World War I. We, at first, only adopted DST for summer months but then extended this to include all year long after observing how much it benefitted our country economically and environmentally by reducing crime rates as well as lighting costs throughout cities at night time.

In 2007 there was an attempt made to push Congress to adopt daylight savings permanently but they were unable to get enough votes because many people complained that their children would be late picking up from school or arriving home in the evenings if they moved away from EST (Eastern Standard Time).

The last time we observed Daylight Savings was in 2016. It started on March 12th at 02:00 am and ended November Standard Time at 03:00 am. This year, it will start again on Sunday, March 11th, 2018 at 03:00 am EST (Eastern Standard Time).

In 2017 the US put into place a law that said Extended Daylight Saving Time would start no earlier than two weeks before the vernal equinox which is typically around March 20th to give people more of an opportunity to adjust their clocks. However, DST ends now as BEDT because there are still many places where they do not observe daylight savings time during winter months like Arizona for example, or Hawaii who hasn’t adopted it.

Remember that the time change occurs at 02:00 am EST (Eastern Standard Time). So for example, when it becomes December 31st, 2018 and we’re in Daylight Saving Time, turn your clocks back one hour to 01:00 am. Conversely, if you live in a non-DST state like California or Texas then don’t bother turning anything because they observe standard time all year round.

On Sunday the 11th of March at 03:00 am Eastern Standard Time US will start observing daylight savings again. We are now receiving more sunlight throughout the day which means longer days but also shorter nights meaning less sleep – so be prepared!

Official starting date is March 12th, 2018 from 02:00 am until November 20th, 2018 at 02:00 am.

Daylight savings time officially ends on November 30th, 2018, when clocks are turned back one hour to 01:00 am EST or 12:00 am CST in the US and Canada respectively.

The time change to daylight savings will be on November, 29th. At this time, at 00 o’clock in the morning (local standard time), clocks and watches are set one hour ahead so that we get a little more light during the evenings. The problem with this though is if you live north of Canada’s 55-degree latitude line then you lose an entire hour every day for months! To avoid some frustration from your friends who might not have experienced it yet or our northern neighbors can’t move their clocks back when they want to go enjoy the sun – here’s how it works around North America.

Daylight saving time is a system that saves daylight by adjusting clocks so that we would have more light in the evening and less during the morning, making it easier to get up early in the mornings when necessary.
