Aviation history buffs will know this one. Charles Lindbergh was famous for flying the Spirit of St. Louis, but the plane was built in San Diego, CA. Even though the original plane is located in the Smithsonian, a flyable replica is located at the San Diego Air and Space Museum. If you love the history of aviation or just want to know a little more about the subject, this museum will become a welcomed place to explore. 

Like Rollercoasters?

A unique aspect of American history is our love for wooden rollercoasters and carnival rides. San Diego, CA is home to a variety of different carnival rides and the Herschell Spillman Managerie Carousel, built in 1910 can still be ridden at Balboa Park, but it is Belmont Park that holds the true gem of historic American rollercoasters. Belmont Park has the Giant Dipper, a 94 year old wooden rollercoaster that has been astounding generations of riders. This wooden rollercoaster is so famous it is actually on the national register of historic places.
